Protocol conversion module (EULYNX Gateway) for EULYNX conversion from any other protocol needed
Infrastructure managers or OEM signalling suppliers sometimes face situations where implementing EULYNX is easier with a simple protocol conversion subsystem layered on top of an existing legacy subsystem. Relesoft’s EULYNX Gateway is a proven, plug-and-play solution ideally suited for these cases. While it can be used for other protocol conversions, it was originally tailored for EULYNX SCI-conversion purposes and is most effective when EULYNX is part of the project requirements.
The system is implemented and documented according to DIN_VDE_RaSTA_0831-200, EN_50126:2017, EN_50716:2023, EN_50129:2018. The Relesoft Gateway can be installed into 2oo2 redundant setup.
EULYNX gateway main design principles are:
- to make the system flexible trough configuration where possible.
- to make the system installable by field technician.
- to make the system transparent so that possible problem is easy to find.
- to make the system safe trough comprehensive pre-validation and safety checks.

The Relesoft Gateway consist of four core software components
- Network protocol layer (Rasta/TCP)
- EULYNX protocol layer (SCI)
- EULYNX conversion logic (formally proven compiler to ensure correctness)
- Adjacent system IO protocol (e.g modbus, physical wires)
Simple commissioning and configuration
System is configured using a human readable and documented format and can be configured event under operation.
Verified compliance
Automation at Relesoft verifies that Relesoft Gateway is always compliant with system requirements. Each system component is tested separately and together. The final system can also be always simulated before deployment.
Source code is available
You get access to the source code to review, update and configure the system independently. .
Comprehensive documentation
The required knowledge to commission, configure and maintain a Relesoft Gateway is documented in a standard and comprehensive way.
Example Protocol Conversion Project Plan
Because the usual need for customisation and requirement to validate the delivery with the customer, following high level project plan is recommended.
- Planning
- Assessment of national requirements and targeted specifications.
- Test plan
- Tests are planned to match acceptance criteria considering requirements.
- I/O configuration and mapping
- The IO mapping depends on the adjacent systems IO interface. Often this is a proprietary protocol that’s implemented during the project by the Relesoft.
- At the same time as the protocol is implemented the required translation functionality is configured.
- Different I/O signals and commands are matched against their counterparts in EULYNX protocol.
- Testing and simulation – Factory acceptance testing
- Simulation of the system to be deployed with adjacent systems to validate correct behavior.
- Device installation
- Necessary devices are delivered and prepared for installation.
- Commissioning to operational use.
- Final FAT/SIT/SAT
Reference delivery
EULYNX gateway has been successfully used in mainline signalling project in Finland. Here is a success story written by the client.

- POKA project for Finnish Transportation Infrastructure Agency (FTIA), contracted by GRK Infra Oyj.
- Objective to enable EULYNX SCI-CC protocol based communication between TMS and 55 relay interlocking.
- Project started with I/O configuration and mapping against counterparts in the protocol.
- Total software delivery ~20k€ per interlocking (Software architecture, software development and documentation).
- Device setup and delivery for contractor. Instruction how to install and configure by field engineers.
- FAT/SIT/SAT tests executed in planned phases.
- Maintenance and development service on request after commissioning.
